The Vindhyavasini Devi Temple
The Vindhyavasini Devi Temple is situated on the banks of the River Ganges and is a famous Shakti Peeth of Goddess Kali. The idol of Goddess Kali is also known as Kajala Devi, who is believed to be an embodiment of benediction and love. Navaratri (April and October) is celebrated at the temple with fervour. The town is well-known for the celebrated temple of Vindhyavasini through which Ganga passes sharing the divinity established here. Pilgrims coming to Banaras on road more often than not cover the destination as a part of their pilgrimage. Devi temple being just 8 Km away from Mirzapur, becomes a centre of holy expedition and devotee-pullers from different corners of India.
Kalikoh temple, holy caves when Goddess Maa Maha Kali is believed to be residing is also visited by her adherents completing the cycle of the three temples. It is only 2 Km away from the main temple. She is the one who vanquished and slayed demon Raktabeeja.
Ashtabhuji Devi Temple
Ashtabhuji Devi Temple is located on the top of the Vindhya ranges and has a historical significance. Local inhabitants believe that a girl child, who was born to Devaki and Vasudeva, escaped from Kansa and started residing in these mountain ranges. A temple located inside a cave has been dedicated to the Ashtabhuji Devi, who is also considered to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. This temple is situated about three kilometres from Vindhyavasini Devi Temple and can be reached easily from Mirzapur.
